LONDON FESTIVAL CELEBRATES FIGHT AGAINST SLAVERY

The Festival of Flight, a non-profit awareness-raising organisation, is holding an evening of music, poetry, visual arts and holistic healing on Monday 25 February at London's The Scala. The festival, in aid of Anti Slavery's campaign against modern slavery, offers an eclectic blend of music ranging from traditional Tibetan sounds to cutting edge dance and an internationally renowned line up of musicians and DJ's including, Nitin Sawhney, Giles Peterson, Asian Dub Foundation Invasion, Alucidnation and DJ Vadim.

This is the first event organised by the Festival of Flight and is devoted to raising public awareness of contemporary slavery. The festival will raise vital funds, supporting
Anti-Slavery's fight to end all forms of slavery in the world today.

In the 21st century, an estimated 27 million women, children and men are enslaved around the world. Slavery exists on every continent and in most countries: eastern European women are bonded into prostitution in western Europe, children are trafficked between West African countries and men are forced to work as slaves on Brazilian estates. Slavery, servitude and forced labour are violations of individual freedoms and in denial of basic dignity and human rights. In response to these atrocities, Festival of Flight will highlight these issues through a positive medium. The event celebrates the diversity of culture and creative expression as a liberating force.
