Criteria for nominations

The individual or organisation nominated should:

  • Have worked for a number of years on an issue of slavery, e.g. bonded labour, forced labour, forced marriage, trafficking or worst forms of child labour;
  • Be involved in direct intervention to support victims of these abuses;
  • Be involved in ongoing campaigning work against these abuses;
  • See a need for international pressure to support and enhance their work;
  • See the usefulness of the Anti-Slavery Award to their work.

An individual will be invited to receive the Award either on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of his or her organisation. In some circumstances a maximum of two people may be invited.

The recipient should:

  • Be able to talk from direct experience;
  • Be a good communicator, preferably in an international language (English, French or Spanish);
  • Be prepared to give media interviews.
