4th July, 5pm BREAKING! The NCA has just confirmed that it will not appeal the judgement! As a result, we are taking this action offline
On 27 June, the Court of Appeal ruled that the National Crime Agency’s (NCA) failure to investigate the importation of cotton produced in the Uyghur Region was unlawful.
This landmark ruling, coming after Uyghur activists have spent years relentlessly challenging the UK Government over its failure to investigate cotton imports from the Uyghur Region, sends a powerful message.
However, the NCA has until 18 July to seek permission to appeal and take the case to the Supreme Court.
Enough is enough. Government agencies should focus on stopping companies from importing goods made with forced labour, not on playing legal games.
Add your name to the letter to NCA Director General, Graeme Biggar, urging him not to appeal the ruling and get on with investigating companies profiting from forced labour in their supply chains.
