Keep the pressure on: Demand water access for farm workers in Nijar
People like you have made supermarkets listen. Now, let’s make sure the Mayor does too.
Thousands of supporters have already called on UK supermarkets to ensure farm workers in Spain have access to clean water. These are the same workers who pick the tomatoes, peppers, and other produce sold on UK high streets, many of whom face exploitation and maltreatment.
Because of your actions, major supermarkets – including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, M&S, Aldi, Waitrose, Asda, and the Co-op – have backed a letter urging the Mayor of Nijar to take action.
Now, we’re taking the next step. Add your name to the letter to show that people power won’t let this issue be ignored. Small actions can create real change.
Our letter to the Mayor
Dear Mayor of Níjar,
It is deeply concerning that the Níjar town council has not restored full water access for residents in the settlement of Atochares.
When I see food from your region on supermarket shelves, I am troubled to think that it could have been produced by workers in punishing temperatures without adequate access to water.
We call on you to immediately restore full access to water at the settlement.
Please take action to resolve this desperate situation.
