In June 2025, in response to the endless atrocities being committed against Palestinians in Gaza by the State of Israel, Anti-Slavery International joined Red Line for Gaza, a growing coalition of civil societies and the public.

Alongside War Child UK, Oxfam, Greenpeace, Médecins Sans Frontières and many others, we are standing together in solidarity with Palestinians and demanding that MPs do everything in their power to protect Palestinians and end the genocide.

The situation in Gaza is appalling. The lack of meaningful action from the UK Government and continued arms transfers to Israel are unacceptable and mean that it may be complicit in genocide.

The UK must take urgent action to pressure the State of Israel to end its genocidal acts in Gaza. So, we ask MPs and the UK Government: what have you done this week to end this attack on Gaza? What is the red line?

Why Anti-Slavery International

Cases of enslavement and other forms of exploitation have been reported in most conflicts and situations of extreme violence around the world. But often, these actions, which may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, are only revealed many years after the conflict.

Enslavement, exploitation and human trafficking have often been used as tools to control people, eliminate or terrorise certain ethnic groups, and extract resources for profit.

Economies sustained on war, and corporate supply chains operating within occupied territories, also rely on exploitative business activity, including forced labour, to maintain and grow corporate profit.

The international community and the UK have a responsibility to stop the atrocities occurring in Gaza. But unfortunately, they are not doing enough to put an end to the genocide and support the Palestinian people in finding freedom and safety.

We stand with our partners in this campaign and in solidarity with Palestinians who are still living through occupation, apartheid, and genocide.

The risk of modern slavery in the occupied Palestinian Territory

Violence and instability are known drivers of modern slavery. We know that they lead to rises in human trafficking, forced marriage, sexual slavery, child slavery and more, with children being particularly at risk of exploitation.

Before this latest siege on Gaza, the people of Palestine were already at risk of forced labour, human trafficking and other forms of slavery. This aggression, ongoing for over 20 months, by the State of Israel is increasing this risk.

Through the ongoing genocide, Palestinians have been displaced, faced loss in livelihoods, and been cut off from food, water, cash, medical help, and safe passage. These conditions force people to make impossible decisions to survive, to protect themselves and their families. The lack of safe alternatives puts them at high risk of experiencing exploitation, including debt bondage and forced labour.

Anti-Slavery International fears for the welfare of Palestinians who continue to face extraordinary violence and deprivation, and who do not have access to food or emergency services.

“We all deserve to live in freedom. But currently, Palestinians in Gaza are facing one of the most egregious assaults to their lives and human rights on record. With the number of people being killed in Gaza climbing daily, Palestinians are also faced with a heightened risk of exploitation in modern slavery driven by violence and instability.

While Israel continues to perpetrate war crimes, including the crime of genocide against Palestinians, the UK Government is not doing enough to put an end to these atrocities.
Anti-Slavery International joins the Red Line for Gaza movement to stand firm in humanitarian principles, in solidarity with the Palestinian people, and to demand a permanent ceasefire.”

Helen Moulinos, CEO of Anti-Slavery International

The international community and the architecture designed to protect everyone’s human rights are failing the Palestinian people. We must act now with determination and conviction. Enslavement and exploitation, and creating the conditions for it, are red lines that have been crossed, and we cannot allow it to continue.

Tell your MP to stop the war on Gaza

Day after day, we watch as Palestinians are killed indiscriminately in Gaza. They are relentlessly bombed, shelled, shot at, and starved. It’s beyond heartbreaking.

Available statistics show that at least 61,158 people have been killed in Gaza since 7 October 2023. We know the actual number is much higher. Each life taken is a red line crossed.

By joining this movement, we are continuing our nearly two-century commitment to dignity and respect for all people, human rights, and the urgent need for government stakeholders to take serious accountability and action in the face of mass atrocity.

Red Line for Gaza is a mass movement joining together civil society and the public, demanding that MPs do everything they can to end the killing.

We must put an end to the suffering and devastation and protect Palestinians from further harm and exploitation. We must draw a red line. Will you join us?

Together, we will make the same demand each week – until the killing stops.
