Sadly, slavery is happening all around us. And one of the reasons it persists is because it’s easy to hide.

We need to be vigilant and know what to do if we suspect that people around us are being forced into labour and controlled by others – after all, we can’t end modern slavery if we don’t know how to spot it.

Learn the signs of modern slavery here so you can take action in someone’s time of need.

3. Join the movement to end modern slavery

At Anti-Slavery International, we help support victims and survivors of modern slavery by tackling its root causes, running programmes to help people rebuild their lives, and put pressure on governments and businesses to protect vulnerable people.

None of this would be possible without our members and their ongoing support. By joining our movement today, you’ll be helping people to live their lives in freedom, away from slavery.

4. Flex your consumer muscles

As a consumer, you have more power than you think.

Find out what your favourite brands are doing to make sure their goods and services are slavery-free by checking if they have a modern slavery statement on their website. If not, drop them an email or give them a call.

This is a critical area of our work. With the help of our supporters, we have helped big businesses like Asos and Marks & Spencer to commit to working hard to protect workers throughout their supply chains.

So, let’s keep up the momentum!

5. Spread the word

Knowledge is power. So, share everything you know about modern slavery with friends, families and colleagues.

Encourage them to take action themselves and become anti-slavery champions. With their support – and yours! – we really can help end modern slavery.

Share this blog today with your networks and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook too!

Without the generosity of our donors and time and passion offered by our volunteers, none of our work to bring an end to modern slavery would be possible.

Thank you for your vital support and don’t forget: you can make a crucial difference.

By following these five simple steps, together, we can help build a future free from slavery for everyone, everywhere, always.
